As of 13 December 2024, Regulation (EU) 2023/988 of the European Parliament and of the Council on General Product Safety (GPSR) entered into force.

The new regulation introduces information obligations regarding the origin and safety of products offered to consumers within the European Union. Its purpose is to increase the level of consumer protection and transparency of commercial offers.

Scope of obligations under GPSR

In accordance with the GPSR regulation, each product offer must include the following information about the manufacturer:

1. Manufacturer’s name (in accordance with commercial law),

2. Manufacturer’s postal address,

3. Manufacturer’s email address or website address,

4. Product safety information (if required for the given category).

If the manufacturer does not have its registered office within the European Union, the details of the so-called responsible person must also be provided: name of the entity, postal address and electronic contact details.
